How to play Il Nuovo Goat

From your first youth contract to retiring as a legend: everything you need to understand a career, without reading a manual.

Il Nuovo Goat is a free football career simulator in the browser — no install. You do not manage a club: you live one player's career, season after season, deciding where to sign, when to move and how much to risk. A full career takes about twenty to forty minutes and stays saved on your device.

1. Create your player

Creation shapes what comes next. Choose a name, nationality, starting age and above all a role: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder or forward. Role changes how the engine scores you — a striker is judged on goals and assists, a keeper on clean sheets and saves — so the final rating does not always reward whoever scores most.

You can customise look and shirt number, then pick the nation and league where you start, and the club that opens the door.

2. Choose where to begin

Over 1600 clubs across 110 leagues. Start in a top flight or grind the second, third and fourth tiers — the same path a kid still proving himself would take. There are major European leagues, leagues from Asia and the Americas, and a full set of continental competitions alongside domestic cups and league cups.

Starting lower is harder and worth more. If you shine in a smaller division, later offers get better, and the career your final numbers tell is more interesting than a quiet life at a giant.

3. Simulate the season

Each year produces appearances, minutes, goals, assists, average rating, the club’s league and cup run, your growth or decline, injuries and individual awards. You do not click match by match: the season resolves and gives you a readable report.

During the year you get choices that matter — how to handle pressure, whether to accept a national-team call-up, how to ride a rough patch — plus news that narrates your season from the outside.

4. Decide what comes next

When a contract expires, or after a season that moves the market, offers arrive. Renew with the club that gave you a chance, or weigh bids that match your current market value. Staying loyal and winning with the same shirt is one career. Chasing trophies by changing clubs is another. The game does not tell you which is right.

5. Leave a legacy

At retirement everything lines up: team trophies, individual awards, national-team numbers, peak OVR, peak market value, longevity and overall output. That feeds the GOAT score — the final verdict on your career — with a summary you can share and compare on the world board.
